Stephen Burris is a pastor, teacher, author, and editor. He currently serves as an Urban Mission Research Missiologist working on a variety of projects. He is Pastor of the Golden Valley Christian Church, located in downtown San Bernardino, CA., and his mission experience includes service in Zimbabwe under the direction of his parents who served as long-term missionaries there. He has edited or co-edited several books including, River of God: An Introduction to World Mission. He is the founding editor of the journal New Urban World and is a charter member of the International Society for Urban Mission. He is the Senior editor at Urban Loft Publishers.  He holds degrees from Puget Sound Christian College and Lincoln Christian Seminary, and has done additional graduate and doctoral work at Boise State University, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, California Lutheran University, Fuller Theological Seminary, William Carey International University, and Emmanuel Christian Seminary.


Dr. Kendi Howells Douglas

General Editor of the Urban Ministry in the 21st Century Series

Dr. Howells Douglas is the Program Director and Professor of Intercultural Studies at Johnson University.  Previously she has been the Professor of Cross Cultural Ministry at Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing, MI for 15 years and has taught online for Dallas Christian College and adult learners at Cornerstone University.  Her passion is in the area of urban mission and her dissertation was on the history of the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in the cities of North America. She enjoys research in other areas as well including: women in missions, postmodernism and culture, mission history, and mission biographies.  Dr. Howells Douglas served as the associate editor of New Urban World Journal, and co-editor of a new book series entitled Urban Ministry in the 21st Century.  Her hobbies include all types of music and reading (her favorite authors being Annie Dillard, Anne Lamott, and N.T. Wright). She is a founding member of International Society of Urban Missiology and a member of Evangelicals for Social Action and the American Society of Missiology, is involved in Habitat for Humanity, as well as traveling and visiting several urban partners all over the world.  She and her husband Will are learning continually from their teenage son, Truman and are active in outreach ministry empowering the homeless of Kissimmee.

 

Dr. Mark Krause

General Editor of the Polis Bible Commentary

Mark S. Krause is the Academic Dean and Professor of Bible and Theology at Nebraska Christian College in Papillion, NE. Dr. Krause came to NC after serving as the Minister of the Westwood Hills Christian Church in Los Angeles. Dr. Krause was Professor and Dean at Puget Sound Christian College in Seattle for over twenty years. He has been an adjunct at Emmanuel School of Religion, Cincinnati Christian University, Hope International University, George Fox University, and several other schools. He currently serves as the Interim Academic Dean for Crossroads College in Rochester, MN.

Dr. Krause’s weekly blog, krausekorner.wordpress.com, has been mentioned in Time magazine, and has received over 70,000 hits. He blogs mainly on theological issues and observations about the modern church.

Dr. Krause has been married to his wife, Susan, for over thirty years. They have three children: Mary, who is married to Brad, lives in Boston, and works for Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary; Jesse, who lives in Omaha and works for Nebraska Christian College and with Calvary Christian Church; and Beatrice, who is married to Zach and works at the Open Door Mission in Omaha.

Dr. Krause plays the violin and has played in numerous symphony orchestras.
